How To Make A Sole Solution (A Natural Electrolyte Solution)

Jun 24, 2023 | Digestion, Energy, Nutrition, Pregnancy, Wellness

A sole solution is simply a salt water solution. I use this every single day and have done for many years now, it’s one of my daily non-negotiables. Sodium is an essential nutrient our bodies need in small amounts to help regulate fluids in our blood . It helps to draw water into our cells to properly hydrate our bodies. Many people drink 2-3 litres of water daily but their bodies aren’t actually utilizing that water effectively to properly hydrate.

We also need sodium to power our neurological system to conduct nerve impulses in our brain & nervous system & to help transport nutrients through our gut. If you workout and sweat regularly you lose minerals such as salt. Adding a sole solution into your diet is a great way to put back in those minerals. Also, electrolytes are extremely important when and breastfeeding.

I use pink himalayan salt to make my sole, it’s loaded with over 84 trace minerals & elements, compared to standard table salt that is 97.5% sodium chloride. Excess sodium chloride increases your risk of hypertension, osteoporosis & kidney disease. The diversity of elements in himalayan pink salt is shown to create an electrolyte balance within your body, it can help to strengthen bones, reduce blood pressure, and improve circulation. It also to reduce water retention and prevent premature aging.

Here is how to make a sole solution:

  1. Grab a small jar and fill 1/4 of it with himalyan salt (basically its 1 part salt to 4 parts water).
  2. Fill the rest of the jar (leaving a little bit at the top of the jar) with filtered water.
  3. Put a lid on the jar, shake it up well and let it sit overnight to allow the salt time to dissolve. The following day you should see a little salt at the bottom of the jar that can’t be absorbed by the water. This is how you know you’ve made a true ‘sole’ solution. If you don’t see any salt in your jar simply add another 1-3 teaspoons of salt to the jar & let it sit overnight again.

When using your sole solution, add 1-2 tsp to a glass of water. It’s best to enjoy this first thing upon waking, and if you fancy jazzing this up add some fresh lemon juice for extra cleansing benefits.
