2 Simple Ways To Improve Your Body Composition

Feb 14, 2024 | Energy, Nutrition, Weight Management, Wellness

If you want to improve your body composition, listen up! You need to make these two factors a non-negotiable in your life!

#1 You must eat sufficient protein! Undereating protein will make it very hard to shift body fat. Protein provides your body and muscles with amino acids needed for metabolic health. Not only that, it supports blood sugar balance (which is also essential when it comes to losing body fat as it helps to keep insulin levels lower), it decreases cravings and supports fat burning. Protein digestion accelerates metabolic rate by 20–35%. Make hitting 30 grams of protein per meal a minimum!!

#2 Incorporate strength /resistance training into your lifestyle twice per week minimum. Resistance training is more effective at improving body composition and fat-loss than aerobic training. Strength training gives you the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to losing body fat, so if you don’t have much time to exercise, at the very least aim for 2x weight-based training sessions per week.

Of course, there are many other factors to consider when it comes to supporting metabolic health and improving body composition such as thyroid health, hormones, blood sugar levels, stress levels, sleep habits, dietary habits, but two of the best places to start with which is what many of my clients focus on is eating sufficient protein and increasing their strength/resistance training. Give it a try for yourself, commit to these two dietary and lifestyle changes for 6-8 weeks and see if you start to notice a difference with your body composition.
